2013 AAFPO Weekend – June 7th - June 9th PDF Print E-mail

2013 marks the fifth Anniversary of "AAFPO Weekend," a series of events lasting three days kicking off with a "Welcome Back" event hosted by AAFPO at the Angel Fire Country Club on Friday night, the AAFPO Annual Meeting and Taste of Angel Fire on Saturday, and the Angel Fire Resort Social on Sunday.

AAFPO Board Election
There are five open positions on your Board of Directors for election this year. This year there is a slate of six excellent candidates for the open positions. You may vote for up to five candidates for each property owned or you can have a "proxy" vote for you by selecting a member of the board as proxy. Since it would be better to have three open positions each year, directors will be assigned a three-year, two-year or one-year term based upon the number of votes received. You will have three ways to vote this year, online with our electronic voting system, by mail or in person at the Annual Meeting on June 8th.

Annual Meeting
This year's Annual Meeting will be held at the Angel Fire Community Center on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 2 PM. AAFPO President, Mike Woolley and Angel Fire Mayor Barbara Cottam will welcome the membership to Angel Fire. The Mayor will describe the progress made in the community over the past year and plans for the future. The AAFPO Directors will update membership about what AAFPO is working on and future plans. This will be followed by a report by Angel Fire Resort management. After the election results are announced, there will be a drawing for a year's Base/Charter member dues. You must vote to have an entry in the drawing. With less than 1,500 expected voters, you have an excellent chance to win over $1,000 to be applied to your next assessment.

"AAFPO Weekend"
The 5th Annual AAFPO Weekend begins on Friday night with a "Welcome Back" reception hosted by AAFPO at the Angel Fire Resort Country Club. There will be a chicken fajita buffet and refreshments on the lower level patio area. We will also have entertainment and fun for all. On Saturday starting at noon we will have "Taste of Angel Fire" sampling of food from Angel Fire's leading restaurants and community exhibits the Angel Fire Community Center. The Annual Meeting will follow, starting at 2pm. The Angel Fire Resort Social will conclude the weekend on Sunday at Olympic Park. There will be a barbeque and carriage rides will be available for children and adults.

The Angel Fire Resort is also offering FREE bait at Monte Verde Lake, FREE lift tickets, FREE bounce house, FREE climbing wall, FREE bungee jumping, and half-price golf greens and cart fees for AAFPO members from Friday through Monday. Many of Angel Fire's retailers and restaurants will be offering special discounts to AAFPO members from June 7th through June 16th.

We look forward to seeing you this June. If you are unable to attend, please be sure to VOTE.

Sincerely,

Linda Wier
Executive Director

The Association of Angel Fire Property Owners (AAFPO) was formed in 1995 as a successor to the Property Owners Association (POA) by the Bankruptcy Court when the current owners of Angel Fire Resort gained ownership through the bankruptcy proceedings. In the Bankruptcy documents and agreements, AAFPO is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the relationship between the Resort and the Angel Fire Property Owners, particularly in regards to the Property Owners' dues payments and the use of amenities. The Amenities of which the Owners have guaranteed use and maintenance through the dues structure are specifically listed in the bankruptcy documents. In addition, AAFPO is charged with the enforcement of the various restrictive covenants of the subdivision within the Angel Fire Resort through its sub-committee, the Angel Fire Environmental/Architectural Control Committee which reviews all building plans in the Resort to make sure that the plans meet all the requirements of the restrictive covenants as well as restrictions on tree cutting and lot clearing. All buildings, additions, etc. must be approved by AFEACC prior to the start of clearing or construction. In short, AAFPO protects your property rights, your use of amenity rights and your property values. AAFPO is an all volunteer organization made up of fellow property owners in good standing (current in dues payment) as elected to the AAFPO Board of Directors by all other Angel Fire Property Owners in good standing at the Annual Meeting each June.
